ARRA activities are so big and broad, with so many moving pieces across so many agencies, it can be hard to keep track of it all. You may be following grant opportunities through the Department of Labor, but are you aware of job training and related investments through other agencies?
There's always Recovery.gov, the official Obama administration site to track opportunities and spending. It's a beautiful site with lots of info. Many states have created their own recovery pages to keep the public informed about how they're spending the money.
Now Wider Opportunties for Women has developed a weekly scan that pulls a lot of information together, including upcoming deadlines across executive branch agencies, upcoming webinars, and reports by OMB, advocacy groups and others.
When I saw this document, my social media mind first thought this would make a great Twitter feed. WOW could provide each individual link as soon as they find it, rather than having to wait for the end of the week, and rather than having to send it out via email.
However, reading through the it made me realize the value of having a live human being compile all this info in one place and write a brief but more-than-140-characters summary of each item. So I wouldn't replace this document with Twitter, although if I had the resources, I'd add the Twitter feed to reach new audiences who seem to live their lives there.
The most recent weekly ARRA scan from WOW is below. Visit their website for more info.
